Robin Who?

Yes, I know I know...it's been a while since I blogged, but my education does come first. So I promised that I would write about the new Russell Crowe movie, Robin Hood and Mother's day.

So...

I promised my mum that instead of buying her something I would take her to the see Robin Hood for Mother's Day. My brother and sister decided to go "halfies" to buy her Avatar. LOL. So... yeah.

The legendary story of the man who stole from the rich and gave to the poor in a time of trouble. Where the church was as corrupt as the King, along comes the notorious "Robin of the Hood" and his marry men.

But director, Ridley Scott (Gladiator), decided to go back - before Robin became the King of the Hoods. Robin Longstride, an archer in the Kings army, is torn between duty and honesty. A man full of knowledge and honour, Robin finds himself in the delicate balance of fate. Where her hands can either carry him or crush him, Robin pushes forward to save England from the evil hands of the French.

With Britain betrayed by a traitor and a selfish King on the throne, Robin Hood opens the doors for the legend's beginning.


This movie was not that bad. There were a few mixed reviews about this film, but I thought it was well written and it was well oiled. The re-collaboration between Scott and Crowe really brought out a good sense of nostalgia for Gladiator fans, but regardless of what my mother thinks, IT IS NOT AT ALL LIKE GLADIATOR.

The story was well written and I loved how they didn't try to pack in to many things into the time limit. I didn't expect this film to be one of those "To be continued..." films, but I'm really glad it is. I loved the idea that it was just the beginning of the legend. I like that there's something more.

I understood that Robin and Marion have a romantic aspect, but I think that it was a bit too central. But then again, there are other aspects that leads me to think that it was necessary. (But there were some scenes where I was like, "You're kidding me right?")

Overall, there was a great balance of action, humour and even moral prodding. It was a good movie and worth more than the $10.50 I paid yesterday. :D
